Well Expert has been building high quality custom window well covers for over a decade. From the time we built our first cover we began asking ourselves, what can we do to improve our product. Over the years WellExpert has incorprated several innovations in the design of “built on site” custom made window well covers. That’s why when it comes of window well covers know one can deliver you the quality and experience of WellExpert.
Extra Wide Cross Supports
Our window well covers are constructed using extra wide aluminum cross supports for increased strenght. Each leg of these cross supports is a full 1.5 inches wide to match the width of our main support. This simply makes our cover stronger and more durable.
SmartLock Quick Release Locking System
Our smart lock window well locking system allows you to lock the window well cover down from inside for added security. It prevents anyone from removing the cover from the outside the home. Our system, which meets all of the IRC code guidelines, is designed with a single pin which releases much quicker than other systems on the market. Since window wells are a common point of entry for home break-ins, locks are an important consideration on egress sizes wells.
Anodized Aluminum
Annodizing is a process whereby aluminum is treated with a special clear surface coating which further protects it from discoloration and corrosion. We take this extra step so that our covers hold up better over years of outdoor exposure. Moreover, annodized aluminum has a more finshed appearance than off the shelf aluminum.
Stainless Steel Rivets
Our window well covers are fastened together with heavy duty stainless steel rivets. Unlike nuts and bolts which can come loose, our rivets give the covers higher strengh and a more finished appearance. We use extra wide 1/4” industrial rivets through our main support for the highest possible hold strength. All riverts are made from aluminum to prevent rust.
Stainless Steel Clips
Our heavy duty stainless steel clips are used with the clip down method of attaching the cover to the well. These clips are positioned around the parimeter of the cover and push over the lip of the well. This enables the cover to hold tight and not move or shift. With clips the cover can still be removed from the outside by firming pulling up. Our clips will not rust or corrode and are fastened to the cover by industrial grade aluminum rivets.
Polycarbonate Surface Material
The surface material we use is a virtually indistructable polycarbonte called LEXAN.
Lexan was developed by GE and is used in almost every major industry on earth. NASA regularly uses LEXAN on many components of the Space Shuttle. It can withstand heavy impact without cracking. Best of all, it’s UV Stable which means it can handle the suns strong UV rays without discoloring. It is also translucent allowing 98% of the natural light into your basement.
Double Main Supprt
Our exclusive double main support is the backbone of our cover. It runs left to right flush along the building and gives the cover it primary strength. Making this double thick is another extra step we take to make our covers better than the competition. That’s two full layers of thick anodized aluminum that sandwich the polycarbonate surface material. This method increases the strength and provides a nicer finish by preventing dirt and debris from getting between the surface material and the bottom support.
