Extensions

There are two types of window well extensions that may be required for your window well. Each type is described below.

Window Extension

This type of extension is used to cover the gap that is created when a window extends higher than the top lip of the window well. The extension connects to the custom window well covers and either rises up (vertical extension) or pushes back toward the window (horizontal extension). The example on the right shows a custom window well with a vertical extension added.

Well Extension

This type of extension is used to increase the height of a window well that had been installed below the grate. It is important to have a well at least a few inches above grate to protect water seepage and the grate potentially erroding into the well. In the example to the right WellExpet installed a well extension which raised the top of the window well by approximately six inches.
