Window Well Safety Ladders

The International Residential Code® (IRC) recommends window well safety ladders in all egress wells, allowing an adequate means of escape out of the well in the case of an emergency. Virtually all towns require a ladder in at least one egress size window well. Also, any bedroom in a basement must have an egress size window well with a ladder in all municipalities.

Window well safety ladders are available in the following lengths:
4-Step Egress Escape Ladder is designed for use in Basement Window Wells 54 to 66 inches in depth
3-Step Egress Escape Ladder is designed for use in Basement Window Wells 42 to 54 inches in depth
2-Step Egress Escape Ladder is designed for use in Basement Window Wells 30 to 42 inches in depth

4 step ladders are most common. Custom sizes are available for extra deep wells.
Window well safety ladder hang from the lip of the well and can be installed along with window well covers or ordered separately and installed by the homeowner.
Ladders for brick or cement wells require on-site installation by WellExpert.
